After a successful demonstration of its direct air capture (DAC) prototype in the lab, GE is planning larger scale demonstrations in 2024.
GE has been partnering with the US Department of Energy (DoE) and Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA-E), as well as other partners from industry and academia to pioneer new advancements in CO2 removal.
GE’s progress with DAC is but one of a dozen technologies the company is showcasing at the 2023 ARPA-E Innovation Summit held in Washington D.C. on March 22-24, 2023.
David Moore, GE’s Carbon Capture Breakout Technology Leader noted that the team’s recent success in the lab follows a more than two-year effort to build this world-class team of experts: “We know that to truly bring an economical, commercial-scale solution in DAC to the market, it will require a collaborative effort with government, industry, and academic partners. If we do this right, we could have a commercially-deployable DAC solution around the end of this decade.”
