With the release of quarter one fiscal results, Air Liquide announced a 12.4% rise on group revenue. According to company reports, Gas and Services demonstrated strong growth and the sector’s highest ever sales figure.
Indeed, Gas and Services sales reached €3,185m for the first quarter of 2011, this reflected a 11.4% rise on the prior year. Benoît Potier, Chairman and CEO of the Air Liquide Group, commented, “This first quarter is characterised by strong growth in revenue from Gas & Services, which logged its highest-ever sales figure. It is a confirmation of the growth momentum undertaken by the Group and of the positive outlook for gas-consuming markets.”
However, this momentum varies according to regions. In fact, Air Liquide Gas & Services sales grew on the same period in 2010 by 8% in advanced economies, but they excelled by 30% in developing economies.
Also significant was the prolificacy of contracts, Potier added, $quot;As an indicator of medium term growth, the signing of new contracts has continued at a strong pace : the high level of investment decisions, totaling nearly €500 million for the first quarter, is evidence of the trend. These contracts illustrate the Group’s ability to stake out positions in new geographies or market sectors such as Energy and the Environment.$quot;
