Environmental regulations mandating cleaner air have been implemented in many industrialized countries creating demand for cleaner fuels in the refinery market.
This demand kept the global hydrogen business on the fast growth track again in 2008. The need for cleaner fuels intensifies hydrogen supply via large-scale on-sites and pipelines to refineries and other large chemical processors.
In addition, massive amounts of hydrogen are needed for oil-sands processing, gas-to-liquids, and coal gasification projects. The industry expects that these projects will boost the size of the hydrogen market significantly over the next five years.
