McDermott to play leading role in UK’s energy future

Energy-focused engineering and construction solutions provider McDermott is set to advance the UK’s low-carbon energy potential by working with a group of industry experts – headed by the UK North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) – to develop a hydrogen-led energy hub in Bacton, Norfolk.

To accelerate the UK’s energy future, the partners aim to add facilities that support low-carbon hydrogen production and carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) to ultimately deliver a sustainable hydrogen supply. 

Commenting on the project, Tareq Kawash, Senior Vice President, Onshore, said, “McDermott’s Center of Excellence in London has the design capability and expertise in major project execution, including both greenfield and brownfield, to deliver a viable project scope that will support Maximising Energy Recovery (MER) and net zero emissions for the UK.” 

As part of an executable development concept, the NSTA has established five Special Interest Groups (SIGs), defined as: Hydrogen Demand, Regulatory, Supply Chain and Technology, and Infrastructure.
