Messer’s Spanish investment goes into operation


The Messer Group has put a new production plant into operation at El Morell in Tarragona, Spain, having invested around €42m euros in its Spanish subsidiary’s new plant.

Messer is massively expanding its capacities in Europe and Asia, with the air separation plant one of the largest in Spain and also just one of a number of new developments underway.

The new plant is connected to its own 90km long pipeline network that supplies the leading chemical and petrochemical companies at the Tarragona industrial complex.

Explaining the company’s encouraging expansion plans in Europe and Asia, owner and CEO Stefan Messer said, “Over the period to 2010, we are investing a total of around €700m in gas production, mostly in the context of long-term customer contracts.”
