Nakilat receives newbuild LNG carrier
Qatari shipping company Nakilat has taken delivery of its third of four liquefied natural gas (LNG) newbuild carriers to be delivered to Global Shipping Co. Ltd., a joint venture between Nakilat and Maran Ventures Inc.
Built by South Korea-based Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), the ‘Global Sea Spirit’ vessel has a carrying capacity of 174,000 cubic metres and uses fuel efficient X-DF engines.
Boasting lower carbon emissions, the LNG vessels all have lower boil-off rates and are equipped with onboard reliquefication units.
With an aim to gain a ‘greater competitive edge’ in the dynamic energy transportation sector, Abdullah Al Sulaiti, CEO Eng., Nakliat, said, “This will further solidify our position as a globally leader in the LNG shipping and maritime industry.”
