Nel Hydrogen Electrolyser has received a $3m purchase order for a two megawatt (MW) containerised Proton PEM® electrolyser from Hydrospider, an affiliated company of Swiss hydrogen company H2 Energy.
The electrolyser will be used to produce green hydrogen for heavy-duty hydrogen trucks from Hyundai Motor Company.
Hyundai and H2 Energy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in September (2018) to provide 1,000 heavy-duty fuel cell electric trucks and an adequate supply chain for renewable hydrogen over a five-year period beginning in 2019.
The Nel ASA division received the order as part of a 30MW framework agreement which represents the first phase of 60 to 80MW needed to supply hydrogen for the total expected 1,000 trucks and other applications.
