Caloric has been awarded a new contract for the supply of a hydrogen system with a capacity of 600 Nm3/h, based on natural gas steam reforming process.
The contract, which will see a plant fully assembled and shipped by January 2012, follows the a number of similar contracts that Caloric has secured in recent years and builds on the company’s expertise in this area.
The specific challenge in this latest project was the fluctuation demand of hydrogen due to the downstream processes the hydrogen is used for.
Caloric’s innovative and fuel efficient plant control system, combined with a high -pressure storage system, was chosen by the customer to cover its requirements of maximum plant flexibility. According to a statement from Caloric, the plant will generate high grade hydrogen with impurity levels of CO less than 1 ppm. The plant can be operated automatically and incrementally between 15-100% of nameplate capacity, the company claims.
