New Fortress Energy launches six million tonnes per annum LNG terminal in Brazil

New Fortress Energy has commenced operations at its six million tonnes per annum Barcarena liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Pará, Brazil.

Strategically located at the mouth of the Amazon River, the site serves as the sole natural gas supply source in the state and the northern region of Brazil.

The facility is made up of an offshore terminal and floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) that will supply LNG to several industrial customers.

Already, New Fortress Energy has signed a 15-year contract with Norsk Hydro’s Alunorte refinery, believed to be the largest alumina refinery in the world.
