New report calls for ‘urgent action’ to develop UK’s CCUS supply chain


There is ‘significant opportunity’ to increase the UK’s manufactured content in the carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) sector, according to a report released today (1st March) by the CCUS Council Supply Chain Working Group.

The report, titled ‘CCUS supply chain intervention strategy’, states that the UK could harness opportunities presented by the CCUS sector to grow its economy, take advantage of export opportunities, and accelerate the UK’s net zero ambitions. 

The report underlined that – as more sectors of industry focus on reducing carbon emissions – there is enormous potential to be exploited in CCUS. 

Having drawn on existing market research, the report also adds new analysis on the UK manufacturing supply chain’s capability, revealing that, with targeted development, UK manufacturers are able to supply all parts of a carbon capture plant.
