Norco’s CEO is playing the long game

For the Kissler family, owners of Idaho-based Norco, business ownership is not simply inherited, but something that is earned. This is a lesson CEO Nicole Kissler got from her father and grandfather and is an important principle as she leads one of the largest independent welding and gas distributors in the US.

Norco found its way to the Kissler family back in 1968, when it was purchased by Nicole Kissler’s grandfather, Larry Kissler. After his own leadership journey, Larry then handed on the business to his son, Jim, who had paid his dues on his own learning journey, and who then led the company up until 2021 when Nicole Kissler took over as CEO after an extended period of father-and-daughter joint-leadership.

“When my grandfather bought the business, we had just two locations. We now have over 80, spread across Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. And we are celebrating 75 years in business this year,” Nicole Kissler tells gasworld.
