Brazilian industrial gas figurehead, Industria Brasileira de Gases (IBG), has made significant investment in the São Paulo region with its second carbon dioxide production plant.
The Descalvado facility enjoyed approximately R$18,0m of investment and now spans 14,000 square metres. Located 240km from São Paulo city, the plant has been designed to double IBG’s production capacity.
Newton de Oliveira, President of IBG and recent Latin American Industrial Gases 2011 conference speaker, commented, “With this new unit, we are going to increase 100% our carbon dioxide production and meet the high volumes demand of this type of gas.”
Indeed, demand for carbon dioxide is quickly mounting and as such, IBG has already publicised plans to construct one further site. The forthcoming facility will serve the Northeast region of Brazil from a base plant in the industrial district of SUAPE, Pernambuco.
