Sempra signs up ConocoPhilips for Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 offtake


Sempra subsidiary Sempra Infrastructure and ConocoPhillips have signed a 20-year sale and purchase agreement (SPA) for 4 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG offtake from the Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 development project in Jefferson County, Texas.

The latest deal builds on their strategic alliance in the first phase of the project, in which ConocoPhilips holds a 30% equity stake and is committed to 5 mtpa offtake capacity over 20 years.

Jeffrey W. Martin, Chairman and CEO of Sempra, said the role of US LNG in meeting the energy security needs of America’s allies continues to grow.

“This next phase reflects both companies’ shared view of the opportunity to connect American producers of natural gas with growing markets overseas, while also driving economic growth and job creation here at home,” he said.
