Spectrex has recently provided SharpEye Optical Flame Detectors to the Rubis Tank Terminal in Rotterdam Botlek to protect against fire outbreaks.

The terminal has installed SharpEye 20/20SI and 40/40I Optical Flame Detectors. The Spectrex SharpEye Optical Flame Detectors used are Triple IR Optical Flame Detectors, providing accurate fire protection with high false alarm immunity. The SharpEye 20/20SI Triple IR Flame Detectors were installed in the first phases and SharpEye 40/40I Triple IR Flame Detectors in the next phases. In total, over 60 of these Triple IR Optical Flame Detectors have been installed at the terminal.

The Rubis Tank Terminal in Rotterdam Botlek stores industrial liquids for international clients. The terminal consists of four jetties and has a total capacity of approximately 111,000m3, which will soon increase to approximately 180,000m3. The liquids stored are primarily gasoline type fuels, causing the terminal to be a fire risk. Fire detection is crucial in the storage tank farm in order to avoid fire outbreaks and subsequent damage and losses to the terminal and the company, respectively. The type of fire detection protecting the terminal must be accurate with minimum false alarms.
