Technip Energies, Baker Hughes to develop modular LNG tech

Baker Hughes and Technip Energies have joined forces to develop a one to two million tonnes per annum (mtpa) modularised liquified natural gas (LNG) proposition for onshore sites.

Under plans laid out in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the energy technology companies hope to reduce time-to-market for LNG to meet growing energy demands.

The joint development will complement the existing Baker Hughes one mtpa range LNG mid-scale modular solution and Technip Energies’ over two mtpa SnapLNG™ solution.

Described by Lorenzo Simonelli, Chairman and CEO of Baker Hughes, as a “milestone”, the deal builds on the partners’ longstanding collaboration on multiple LNG projects.

Simonelli said, “LNG will continue to play a key role to solve the energy trilemma, and the ability to accelerate time-to-production through modularised solutions can be a differentiator.”

Arnaud Pieton, CEO of Technip Energies, added, “Cooperating in advancing technology in LNG with our long-term partner Baker Hughes is an important step for the energy industry and for our clients.”

“The combination of our expertise, modular approach and references will enable shorter delivery times and better affordability.”
