TotalEnergies, CMA CGM launch Marseilles’ first ship-to-containership LNG operation

Energy specialist TotalEnergies and shipping company CMA CGM has advanced shipping’s energy transition with the Port of Marseille Fos’ first ship-to-containership liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering operation.

TotalEnergies’ Gas Vitality, the first LNG bunker vessel based in France, refuelled the 15,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) LNG-powered CMA CGM BALI containership with around 6,000m³ of LNG while CMA CGM BALI carried out cargo operations. 

Commenting on the operation, Jerome Leprince-Ringuet, Vice-President Marine Fuels, TotalEnergies, said, “This landmark operation also demonstrates our continued support to the growing role of LNG in shipping’s energy transition.”
