Wintershall Dea aims to drive energy transition with hydrogen and CCS


Natural gas and oil company Wintershall Dea has called for the acceleration of the energy transition to help achieve net zero targets in Europe and Germany.

The company aims to contribute to the realisation of these targets through its involvement with hydrogen and carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects. 

According to the Germany Energy Agency study on an integrated energy transition, by 2045 the demand for hydrogen will have increased ‘more than tenfold’. 

This high demand is seen by Wintershall Dea as an opportunity to integrate natural gas-produced hydrogen or so called ‘turquoise’ hydrogen.
