Energy technology specialist TechnipFMC has joined forces with US-based Talos Energy (Talos) to develop solutions for carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects along the US Gulf Coast.

The partnership aims to help reduce the global carbon footprint by accelerating offshore CCS adoption from identifying suitable storage sites, front-end engineering and design (FEED), and first injection through the lifetime of field operations.

Aiming to capitalise on its ‘collective expertise’, Jonathan Landes, President, Subsea at TechnipFMC, said that the company wants to work with Talos to deliver a reliable industrial-scale solution for CCS.

As the operator of the only major offshore carbon sequestration hub in the US, Talos considers itself well-positioned to take on the challenge.

“Combining the technical expertise of both companies solidifies our market leadership in delivering integrated CCS solutions to lower industrial carbon emissions and create a positive impact in the communities where we work and live,“ commented Bob Abendschein, Executive Vice President, Head of Operations, Talos.
