The CONCOA family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Founder and President Sande Dukas at the age of 71. He passed away peacefully on the 21st December 2016, in Virginia Beach with his family by his side.
Dukas guided CONCOA since its founding in 1987, leading it to global prominence in the manufacture of pressure and flow control equipment.
Dukas began his career in the steel industry, and after a short tenure in the watch industry, founded CONCOA in Virginia Beach with a small group of gas industry professionals.
The company originally began servicing industrial applications with welding and cutting torches, tips, regulators, and accessories. Sande’s vision and leadership helped CONCOA emerge as a leader in pressure and flow control equipment, quickly expanding into the medical, research, speciality gas, and laser industries.
Geordie Dukas, incoming President, said, “My father sought to push the boundaries of gas handling technology to exceed customer expectations and meet emerging application demands. He was a generous and caring person who thought of employees, customers, and our local community as an extended family. He will be missed, and we remain resolved to uphold the vision my father set forth and will continue servicing existing markets and expanding into new ones with innovative technology.”
Sande also dedicated himself to a number of causes such as animal welfare and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education. He also gave freely of his time, serving on the board of several organisations focused on education and economic development in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. An avid pilot from a young age, Sande loved flying all manner of aircraft and maintained a commercial license his entire adult life.
