Spectrex SharpEye 40/40I IR3 Flame Detectors were recently selected for a newly constructed oil rig. Wintershall chose the IR3 detectors for their new RAVN unmanned platform that will serve in the Danish part of the North Sea.
The SharpEye detectors were installed to provide high performance detection of the entire rig.
The 40/40I optical flame detector is a multi spectrum based on three IR bands (IR3), detects fuel and gas fires at long distances with the highest immunity to false alarms. The 40/40I IR3 can detect a 0.1 m2 gasoline pan fire at 215ft (65m) in less than five seconds.
Spectrex Inc. is a technology leader in optical Flame and Open Path Gas Detection (OPGD). Its patented optical UV/IR and IR3 Flame Detector designs, and pioneering patented Xenon Flash designs in OPGD detectors are now the standard for Oil & Gas projects. A wide range of flame detectors are available, from ultra fast (msec) detection time to high sensitivity hydrocarbon and hydrogen flame detection, alongside the equally large OPGD range that can detect hazardous gases, from flammable hydrocarbons to toxic Ammonia and Hydrogen Sulfide.
Since 2007, Spectrex has been involved in fire protecting the new EnCana headquarters – The BOW building in downtown Calgary, Canada. The building features four large atria and Spectrex was consulted for advice on how to protect these large areas against fire.
Month on month the gasworld website continues to be the primary portal for information, on a global scale, about our industry - be it through the provision of news and features, or information in the expansive company directory section. Launched in 2004, it is the only independent online news provider and information portal for the global industrial gas community and the larger end-user markets. The website also now incorporates news for gasworld US and Specialty Gas Report.
