Worthington Industries have been named a General Motors (GM) Supplier of the Year.

Awarded annually, the recognition highlights global suppliers that exceed GM’s requirements, and therefore provide GM customers with innovative technologies.

For the 2020 calendar year, GM recognised 122 of its best suppliers from 16 countries.

To GM, Worthington supplies hot-rolled and hot-rolled galvanized steel coils used in the stamping and assembly of GM vehicles made in Canada, the US and Mexico.

The above is all supplied from Worthington’s Steel Processing facilities in Alabama, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Mexico.

Commenting on the award, Jeff Klinger, President of Worthington Industries Steel Processing, said, “The Supplier of the Year award is one of GM’s highest honours and we are grateful for the long-term partnership we’ve built together.”

“It’s especially meaningful to receive this recognition for the first time during a year when supply chains have been challenged worldwide. “It’s a real testament to our employees’ commitment to delivering innovative solutions and the highest quality and customer service.”

The 2020 Supplier of the Year winners were selected by a global team of GM purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics leaders.

Winners were chosen based on performance criteria in Product Purchasing, Global Purchasing and Manufacturing Services, Customer Care and Aftersales, and Logistics.

On the awards, Shilpan Amin, GM Vice-President of Global Purchasing and Supply Chain, said, “As GM works to achieve a future with zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion, we are proud to have innovative and dedicated suppliers around the world as partners in this mission.”

“Throughout a challenging year, our suppliers have showed resilience and dedication in working toward our shared goal of long-term sustainability for our planet and the communities we serve, while meeting our present needs.”
