Medical demand, clean energy drive

For some businesses, the coronavirus (Covid-19) lockdown meant the idling of plants until restrictions are lifted. For others, which are deemed essential businesses, the last few months have been busy. Cryogenic Industries Group (CIS), part of the Nikkiso Co., Ltd family, and consolidated in Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases group (CE&IG), has had to keep up with an increase in orders for its oxygen vaporizers from hospitals, some of which are using unprecedented amounts of oxygen to treat patients suffering with Covid-19.

CE&IG consists of Nikkiso Cryo, Inc. (Las Vegas) and Cryogenic Industries, Inc. (Temecula, California) and its Nikkiso subsidiaries, ACD, Cosmodyne, Cryoquip, and Integrated Cryogenic Solutions. The member companies manufacture engineered cryogenic gas processing equipment and small-scale process plants for the liquefied natural gas (LNG), well services and industrial gas industries.

But it is CE&IG’s oxygen tanks, pumps and vaporizers which have seen a sudden rise in demand since the coronavirus spread across the US in March. Peter Wagner (pictured inset), CEO of CIS and Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gas Group, believes it is a trend that is set to continue for the time being at least.
