The hydrogen vector – The green key to renewables

0

With an energy density that far exceeds today’s common vectors such as diesel fuel and methane, hydrogen is the logical vector to connect the renewable energy market to industry gas and mobility markets. But it would defeat the purpose to deliver green energy along a dirty vector.

Traditional hydrogen production through steam reforming leaves a massive carbon footprint. To keep the energy vector green, it is critical that hydrogen production itself also be green.

Hydrogen generated through the electrolysis of water is clean and green – especially if the energy driving the electrolysis comes from renewable energy sources. At McPhy Energy, we specialise in hydrogen generation systems based on water electrolysis. We are witness to exciting developments in renewable energy deployment, as our systems are now used to convert renewable energy directly into green hydrogen. With green hydrogen, new economic models can be built for the energy transition. Such models can leverage the intermittent nature of renewable energies, capturing their value for applications in mobility, energy and industry.
