NextDecade Corporation has appointed Ivan Van der Walt as its new Chief Operating Officer to support the company’s LNG and carbon capture projects.

The US-based company on Monday (21st June) said the Board of Directors made the appointment and it will be effective 1st July.

Van der Walt joined NextDecade in July 2018 serving as Senior Vice-President, Engineering and Construction and holds nearly 30 years of experience in the global energy industry.

As Chief Operating Officer, he will continue to be responsible for all project management, engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations of the company’s LNG and carbon capture projects.

In addition to announcing Van der Walt’s new position, NextDecade has also appointed Vera de Gyarfas as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, effective 21st July.

De Gyarfas joins NextDecade with nearly 30 of legal experience in the global energy industry having responsibility for oversight of all legal, corporate governance, compliance, litigation, regulatory, and outside counsel management.

She will replace Krysta De Lima, who will leave NextDecade on 7th July.
