High-tech vacuum solutions company Pfeiffer Vacuum (Pfeiffer) has expanded its technology offering with the opening of its new Silicon Valley Innovation Center (SVIC) in San Jose, California.

The 10,000 square foot SVIC will give customers the opportunity to explore first-hand the potential of semiconductor applications for high-vacuum technology.

Pfeiffer also revealed that customers can make use of the centre to test and evaluate the company’s early development stage vacuum solutions.

Set to become a hub of vacuum technology knowledge, specialists and researchers will be available to provide onsite support for all vacuum equipment.

Commenting on the new development, Dr. Britta Giesen, CEO, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology AG, said, “Opening the Silicon Valley Innovation Center demonstrates our commitment to drive innovation for our customers in the semiconductor market, and to support the development of future technologies.”

The scope of vacuum technology – including backing pumps, turbopumps and measurement instruments - covers several burgeoning industrial sectors, including the production of microprocessors, storage media, and high-definition displays.

The SVIC increases the collaboration potential between Pfeiffer and its customers, considered by Ming Lee, VP Sales for North America, Pfeiffer, as ‘increasingly important’ as the complexity of microprocessor production increases.

“The center and its team of experts will be essential in working even closer with our customers to efficiently design vacuum products and solutions for their technological challenges,” she added.

Having opened its doors on 10th December, 2021, the SVIC is located at 2381 Bering Drive in San Jose.
