Welcome to our February double-header issue, which shines a light on air gases and medical applications using industrial gases. When it comes to air gases, today the US industrial gas industry is moving on from the challenges and uncertainties brought by the global economic struggles, as our annual air gases report tracks. But change is relatively slow to unfold. At the end of 2024, just three new air separation unit (ASU) expansions with liquefaction had come online in the prior 12 months, with an additional three new ASUs expected to become operational between now and 2027. That reflects supply and demand, of course, but is part of the picture to be understood in this important market.
