SaskPower celebrates carbon capture milestone at Boundary Dam Power Station

SaskPower’s Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) facility located near Estevan, in Saskatchewan, Canada, has captured more than three million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2), marking a major company milestone.

In 2014, the Boundary Dam Power Station became the first power station globally to successfully deploy CCS technology. Now the carbon capture facility has reached its latest carbon capture milestone, which is the equivalent to taking 750,000 vehicles off the road.

“The CCS facility at Boundary Dam Power Station is an example of the kind innovation needed to combat climate change,” said Dustin Duncan, Minister responsible for SaskPower.
