ABB breaks ground on Oklahoma-based calibration hall

Automation technology company ABB has broken ground on a new calibration hall in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to enhance its calibration capabilities.

The 12,000-square-foot site is located adjacent to the company’s existing site, which is currently one of ABB’s flagship locations.

Jacques Mulbert, President of ABB Measurement & Analytics, described the news as an important investment that will increase and strengthen their manufacturing footprint.

He added, “With today’s ground-breaking, we are on a path to improve our ability to meet the growing demand for instrumentation in the North American market.”

High-accuracy flowmeter calibration enhances measurement performance, which helps industrial customers become more energy and resource efficient.

The technology can help US plant operators across industries such as chemical, oil & gas, battery, hydrogen, and power to accurately measure inflow and outflow as well as raw and produced materials, controlling their processes in a more precise and efficient way.

The US remains ABB’s largest market by revenue, and the current investment adds to over $14bn ABB has invested in the US since 2010.

Just last year, ABB also announced that it had inaugurated a process flowmeter calibration facility in its Minden factory in Germany. The calibration hall, which houses water and air calibration rigs, also strengthened the company’s calibration capabilities.

The capabilities increased the Minden factory’s capacity by up to 30% while increasing accuracy and serving ABB’s global customer base.
