Advanced Biofuels Coalition appoints Sophia Haywood as Chair

The Advanced Biofuels Coalition has elected Sophia Haywood, Head of Advocacy and Communications at Dimeta, as its new Chair, succeeding Erich Cuaz of Clariant.

Founded in 2012, the Advanced Biofuels Coalition supports the expansion of advanced biofuel production and uptake across hard-to-abate sectors in Europe.

Members of the coalition represent organisations from across the whole value chain, from those focused on commercial production to those investing in the future production pipeline.

Haywood said she is honoured to take on her new role at a “critical time” for the advanced biofuels sector, further emphasising the need to accelerate the ambition to scale advanced biofuel production.

She continued, “There is a huge amount of potential with advanced biofuels that can be unlocked by the EU, especially in reaching the 2040 targets. I look forward to working alongside the coalition members to the necessary and fair support for our sector in place.”

Haywood is the Head of Advocacy and Communications for Dimeta, a company dedicated to advancing the production and use of renewable and recycled carbon DME, a sustainable liquid gas.

She has a decade of experience navigating complex policy on behalf of industries at a national and EU level.

Erich Cuaz will remain on the board of the Advanced Biofuels Coalition.
