Air Liquide North America CEO joins Executive Committee

Adam Peters, CEO of Air Liquide North America, has been appointed Group Executive Committee member, effective 1st May 2024.

Peters started his career with Air Liquide in 1996 and spent nearly 10 years in the company’s electronics business. In 2006, he joined Air Liquide Large Industries US and was appointed director, leading on-site development. He was promoted to vice-president of large projects.

In 2010, he was promoted to vice-president of operations control in the Americas. He relocated to Montreal in 2012, where he was appointed president and CEO of Air Liquide Canada. He served in this capacity prior to re-joining the electronics team in January 2018, when he became vice-president of Air Liquide’s electronics activity worldwide.

He has been CEO of Air Liquide North America since January 2022.

Speaking on its full-year 2023 earnings call back in February, Air Liquide said there is “enormous potential” in decarbonisation projects in the US, particularly on the US Gulf Coast, since the Inflation Reduction Act was signed into law.

Mike Graff, Chairman of Air Liquide Holdings, said, “In addition, you’ve got the opportunity to use low-carbon or renewable hydrogen in the actual production process itself – that is, as a core component of what is produced, like blue ammonia.”

“These [potential projects] bring significant opportunity, but there’s a lot of complexity to this, because in almost every case you’re dealing with large-scale production of low-carbon hydrogen [and] the large-scale capture of CO2 [plus] sequestration.”
