Climeworks surpasses $1bn funding for direct air capture tech
Swiss carbon capture firm Climeworks has surpassed $1bn in total funding, having secured an additional $162m in equity finance.
Led by BigPoint Holding and Partners Group, the financing will support the scale-up of Climeworks’ direct air capture (DAC) technology, which in turn could bring down the cost of removals.
“DAC has gone from experiment to essential – and we’re focused on scaling it by driving down costs and pushing innovation,” said Christoph Gebald, co-CEO and co-founder of Climeworks.
