Consortium to explore CCS potential in British Columbia

A newly formed project has set out to assess carbon capture and storage (CCS) potential in Northeast British Columbia, Canada, as part of the province’s plans to grow both its low-carbon energy and CCS sectors.

The BC Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE), Geoscience BC and the BC Hydrogen Office on Wednesday (1st June) said they have joined forces to carry out the work that is set to be a key part in British Columbia achieving its emissions reduction targets

Under the project plans, the parties will look to identify and estimate carbon dioxide storage potential, provide key information of its findings for improved decision-making for policy and regulatory makers and establish a CCS Outreach and Engagement Programme.

With this, it is hoped there will be raised awareness of CCS opportunities in the province.
