DET achieves success in first German North Sea regasification auctions

Deutsche Energy Terminal GmbH (DET), the state-owned operating company overseeing the four LNG terminals (FSRU) on the German North Sea coast, has accomplished its inaugural marketing of regasification capacities through digital auction rounds.

The auctions, which encompassed the Brunsbüttel and Wilhelmshaven 1 terminals, took place during six designated marketing days in October 2023.

Market participants were granted the opportunity to acquire time slots for regasification capacities (short-term capacities) between April and December 2024 at these two facilities. Both slots with and without delivery obligations were allocated to traders.

All 60 available slots were awarded, with prices ranging from 55 to 81.2 Euro cents/MMBtu (million British thermal units), ensuring the full utilisation of the two terminals throughout 2024.
