Hummingbird welcomes new Global Sales Manager

Gas sensing technology specialist Hummingbird Sensing Technology (Hummingbird) has appointed a new Global Sales Manager who will oversee worldwide sales support for the company.

Having first joined the company as an apprentice in 2007, new recruit James Adams developed his career elsewhere over 13 years before returning to Hummingbird equipped with a ‘wealth’ of industry knowledge.

“I’m excited to be back and share my product and industry knowledge helping to drive sales success on a global scale,” said Adams.

A global sales network of seasoned managers at Hummingbird assists customers in integrating sensing solutions into their product designs across a range of industry and medical OEM partners.

The company’s gas sensing technology serves a range of applications including hydrogenation systems, food packaging systems, modified atmosphere packaging, biogas analysis systems and fixed/portable gas analysers.

Commenting on the new appointment, Chris Edwards, Business Unit Manager at Hummingbird, praised Adams’ return, saying, “He’s increased his commercial and industrial knowledge which will be invaluable to Hummingbird and our customers.”

The company was recognised for its innovations in gas sensing technology in 2016 when it won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category for its paramagnetic oxygen sensing technology.

Hummingbird also developed a new sensor in record time to meet the demands of medical manufacturers during the Covid-19 pandemic.

To meet the increased demand for ventilators in 2020, the company developed a variant of the Paracube sensor, the Mercury, designed and approved to work in certain ventilators with the same features and benefits as its original Paracube.

The sensor took around 14 weeks from inception to delivery and enabled the company to double the production rate of the original Paracube sensor.

Worth an estimated $1.5bn in 2023, the global gas sensors market is project to reach $2.3bn by 2028, growing at a CAGR of 9.4%.
