Global engineering and construction solutions company McDermott has been awarded a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for phase one of the Rovuma LNG project in Mozambique.
Rovuma LNG is a joint venture between ExxonMobil Development Africa B.V., Eni S.p.A. and CNODC Dutch Cooperatief U.A. Once fully operational, the project is expected to have a production capacity of 18 million tonnes per annum.
Phase one will liquefy, and export of natural gas extracted from the offshore area four fields off the Afungi Peninsula in Mozambique.
The FEED contract includes the modular design of a greenfield LNG production facility in Afungi, all associated gas pre-treatment units and the utilities and offshore systems to support the LNG production.
