Mexico Pacific appoints Sarah Bairstow as CEO

Mexico Pacific, which is currently developing the 15 million tonnes per annum Saguaro Energía LNG facility, has appointed Sarah Bairstow as its new CEO, effective immediately.

Bairstow joins Mexico Pacific with over 20 years of international LNG and energy leadership experience and is a founding executive of Mexico Pacific. Prior to joining Mexico Pacific, she was head of strategic projects and commercial LNG for the Gladstone LNG project.

She replaces Ivan Van de Walt’s resignation as CEO to pursue other interests.

Charles Davidson, Executive Chairman of Mexico Pacific and Partner at Quantum Capital Group, Mexico Pacific’s principal equity owner, said that Birstow has a demonstrated track record of taking LNG projects from concept to operations and has played a pivotal role in the company’s trajectory to date.

Mexico Pacific continues to progress the workstreams necessary to achieve a final investment decision for the first phase of its Saguaro Energía LNG facility and the associated Sierra Madre Pipeline.

Davidson continued, “With three trains commercially contracted and key regulatory permits in place across the pipeline and terminal, Mexico Pacific is well positioned to begin construction of its flagship project in the second half of this year.”

Excited to take on her new role as CEO, Bairstow said, “I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead Mexico Pacific through its next phase of execution and excited about the significant opportunities ahead for the company.”

At the start of the year, Mexico Pacific signed its third LNG sales and purchase agreement with ExxonMobil LNG Asia Pacific (EMLAP) for an additional 1.2 million tonnes per annum of product.

Under terms of the deal, the LNG will be supplied on a free-on-board basis over a 20-year term from Train 3 of Mexico Pacific’s Saguaro Engergia project located on the west coast of Mexico.

Mexico Pacific’s Saguaro Energía project is a 15 million tonnes per annum North American West Coast LNG export facility, located in Puerto Libertad, Sonora, Mexico.
