Nippon Sanso to phase out Matheson and Taiyo brands in global rebrand

Industrial gas major Nippon Sanso Holdings Corporation (NSHD) will retire its Matheson and Taiyo brands as it looks to unify and standardise the ‘Nippon Sanso’ name globally.

Until now, the company used the Matheson branding in the US and Taiyo Nippon Sanso in Japan. These regional brand names will gradually be replaced in customer-facing materials as the unified branding rolls out.

“To further enhance recognition and understanding of our group as a unified entity … and to maximise corporate value and achieve sustainable growth, we have decided to unify the brand for our industrial gas businesses as “Nippon Sanso” and standardise the brand logo globally,” stated the company.

The unification and logo change will happen in stages, meaning there will be a transition period during which both old and new branding may be visible side by side, according to NSHD. No specific timeline has been disclosed.
