Planned Texas fuels terminal to produce electro-LNG by 2028
Texas-based clean fuels terminal Galveston LNG Bunker Port (GLBP) and climate tech innovator Loa Carbon are partnering to produce e-LNG at GLBP’s Texas City facility.
Set to be operational in 2028, the facility will be the US Gulf Coast’s first dedicated LNG liquefaction plant for marine bunkering.
A signed letter of intent says Loa Carbon provide renewable e-methane, also known as e-NG, directly to GLBP for liquefaction. GLBP will then supply its customers – mostly ship operators – with the e-LNG.
The facility’s location in Texas City gives GLBP and Loa Carbon access to CO2 from local industry and landfills, supporting cost-effective e-methane production and future scale-up.
