Semiconductor tax credit increased to 35% in updated US budget bill


The US House of Representatives has passed President Trump’s budget bill, boosting the advanced manufacturing investment credit (AMIC) for the semiconductor industry from 25% to 35%.

This follows the US Department of the Treasury finalising rules to offer a 25% tax credit for certain semiconductor manufacturing investments.

To qualify for the capital, construction must have started after August 9, 2022, and the equipment must be placed in service after December 31, 2022.

John Neuffer, President and CEO of SIA, applauded the strengthened advanced manufacturing investment credit.
