Technip, Petronas collaborate to explore CO2 capture

Energy conglomerate Petronas has teamed up with Technip Energies (Technip) to explore carbon capture techniques to help accelerate the transition to a net-zero carbon future.

The Heads of Agreement (HoA) deal signed between the two will see development and commercialisation of technologies such as Petronas’ Rotating Pack Bed assisted cryogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) recovery unit (CryoMin) and membrane-based CO2 recovery tool PN2.

Commenting on the agreement, Arnaud Pieton, CEO, Technip, said, “It will generate unique synergies by combining Technip Energies’ and Petronas’ respective experiences in the development of essential technologies for the capture and management of CO2.”

The partners identified carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) technologies as playing a key role in their ‘Net Zero Carbon Emissions 2050’ aspirations and will work together not only to development the technology but also the associated services and equipment.
