WireTough Cylinders receives ASME certification for hydrogen storage cylinder

Virginia-based cylinder manufacturer WireTough Cylinders has obtained American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) certification for its Type II-S cylinder designed for bulk storage of gaseous hydrogen at a pressure of 350 bar.

The Type II-S vessels are engineered to store 40.7kg of hydrogen and are believed to be 50% lighter than the average cylinder of its size. In turn, this makes it more cost-effective as additional space for hydrogen can be utilised.

Sharing the news of the certification, WireTough said, “In an era where clean energy, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness are paramount, WireTough’s mission is to lead the charge in providing solutions for on-ground, long-duration energy storage.”
