Carbon capture at sea: Seabound makes a splash


Innovation is continuing to drive sustainable development, and carbon capture is a growing part of this picture today.

The technology has already made its mark in areas such as natural gas processing, fertiliser production and waste-to-energy. But shipping also needs to decarbonise, being responsible for 3% of global greenhouse gas emissions. That’s more than the aviation sector.

It’s a particular challenge because older vessels, and that’s nearly all of them since ships are long-lived assets, run on fossil fuels. However, there has been a flurry of innovative activity in carbon capture for shipping in recent months.
