European Energy moves on US e-methanol opportunity

Having cracked the European e-methanol market, being poised to launch the world’s largest e-methanol production plant, European Energy is now moving on North America. The stateside story of the Danish firm began in 2021, with the founding of EE North America, which is today headed by its CEO, Lorena Ciciriello.

“I joined European Energy just over two years ago with the mandate to establish a North American presence, and EE North America was founded,” Ciciriello tells gasworld.

Since the launch, European Energy has moved on projects in three states: Texas, Arizona, and Colorado. Together, the projects equate to 3GW of power, but it is the Texas site that is most notable at this point. It looks set to become the first operational e-methanol facility in North America.
