Oklahoma’s City Carbonic joins Meritus Gas Partners

Packaged gas distribution platform Mertius Gas Partners has announced a new partnership with Oklahoma-based City Carbonic.

Owned by the Morgan family since 1944, City Carbonic is a supplier of carbon dioxide (CO2) and carbonation services for the food and beverage industries and the cannabis market, serving Oklahoma City and its surrounding areas.

News of the partnership marks Meritus’ second partnership in Oklahoma, having announced its partnership with Tulsa Gas & Gear in November 2021.

Scott Kaltrider, Chairman of Meritus, welcomed City Carbonic to the Meritus family.

He said, “City Carbonic has an excellent reputation in the greater Oklahoma City market, and its growth in CO2 has been exponential. City Carbonic and Tulsa Gas & Gear give Meritus a significant presence in Oklahoma’s two largest and fastest-growing markets.”

Third-generation co-owner Amy Morgan Bruecks will continue to lead the City Carbobic as President while maintaining significant equity ownership in Meritus. She said the partnership represents a significant milestone in the company’s history.

She added, “Sadly, my parents, Louis and Irene Morgan, are not with us to celebrate this milestone. Both favoured exploring this partnership with Meritus, and I know they would be proud to see it consummated.”

“By leveraging Meritus’ extensive partner company network and resources, we will strengthen our service offerings and provide new growth opportunities for our employees and customers.”

Steve Stobaugh, President of Tulsa Gas & Gear, said he is looking forward to learning from City Carbonic’s expertise and best practices. He added that Tulsa Gas & Gear has long wanted to enter the Oklahoma City market.
